| Here are the questions we've already been asked and our responses: |
| Where
is Solitude Mountain Resort located? Solitude Mountain Resort is located in Salt Lake City towards the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon at about 8,000 feet in elevation. Here's a Google map to the mouth of the canyon. Once you get to the mouth of the canyon, just keep heading up Big Cottonwood Canyon Road until you see the Solitude signs (about 12 miles). |
| What Hotels
are located close to the
Solitude Mountain
Resort? In addition to the accomodations that are available at the Solitude Mountain Resort, here's a partial list of some other hotels that we're aware of that are located somewhat close. Since we live in Salt Lake, we don't usually stay at any of these places, so we can't vouch for any of them. If you stay at one of these hotels, please let us know what your experience was like after you leave so we can either warn others, or let them know that it's a pretty good place to stay: The Brighton Lodge - just a few miles further up the canyon from Solitude - (800) 873-5512 ext 236 Crystal Inn - 818 E Winchester St, SLC, UT 84107 - (801) 685-9300 Sandman Hotel - 5754 S State St, SLC, UT 84107 - (801) 266-5963 Residence Inn by Marriott-Cottonwood - 6425 S 3000 E, SLC, UT 84121 - (801) 453-0430 Quality Inn Salt Lake City South - 4465 Century Dr, SLC, UT 84123 - (801) 268-2533 Super 8 Midvalley - 7048 S 900 E, Midvale, UT 84047 - (801) 255-5559 Reston Hotel - 5335 College Dr, SLC, UT 84123 - (801) 264-1054 Inn on the Hill - 7186 Highland Dr, SLC, UT 84121 - (801) 328-1466 Fairfield Inn by Marriott - 594 W 4500 S, SLC, UT 84123 - (801) 265-9600 Hampton Inn Murray - 606 W 4500 S, SLC, UT 84123 - (801) 293-1300 |

camping is available near Solitude? There are three campground areas in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The closest of these is the Redman Campground. It is the campground you see to your immediate left as you ride the Sunrise lift to hole 1. Reservations are available through the Recreation.gov website. The reservation phone number is 877-444-6777. The Redman Campground is a large campground, but very popular, so make reservations early. There is no camping available on Solitude property. |
| Are
dogs allowed in Big Cottonwood Canyon or at Solitude? The answer to this question is provided by the USDA Forest Service: No, dogs are not allowed in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The reason for this is that Big Cottonwood canyon is a watershed. Click here for more details. |
| What is the disc golf course like at
Solitude? In our opinion, the disc golf course at Solitude is awesome! It is one of the most challenging and fun mountain courses in the nation. The terrain is rugged, so be prepared! And at 8,000 feet in elevation, the weather can change very quickly, too. It can go from cold to hot, sunny to rainy and any combination of the foregoing at a moments notice. There can also be mosquitoes and other insects to pester you, so bring bug repellent. And don't forget the sunscreen! |
| What
if I want to play in a division that doesn't appear to be offered? We've listed the divisions that we typically fill at our tournaments. However, we're more than happy to add other divisions if there are at least four players in that division. If registering online, select "A division that isn't listed" and then specify which division in the comments/questions section. If you're printing and mailing a registration form, just write in the division you'd like to play. If we don't have at least four players in that division by the first day of the tournament, we'll move you to the next closest division with at least four players. We'll also offer a "trophy only" option. We'll get back to you on what the registration fee will be. |
